It’s amazing. At about 5am every morning our black cat, Blacky, wakes me up. He wants to be fed so he will walk over me, nudge me, or do whatever else he can do to so annoy me that I will ultimately get up, and feed him. I have no idea how he knows it is 5am. It’s totally black outside.
Once I have fed him and he has his belly full that is basically the last interaction I will have with him for the next 23 ½ hours. He sleeps a lot after he is fed or just looks out the window, watches birds, and dreams what they might taste like if the window wasn’t in the way.
People are a lot like Blacky. We become discontented when we want something. We become content when we have what we want. Who doesn’t want to be content? We all do. The Bible says there is a secret to being content. That secret is not about having our bellies full or having a new car in the driveway. The secret is having the right spiritual perspective. Once a person has that, they possess what 99% of the world doesn’t possess, contentment. Priceless!
