Looking back over one’s life, whether you’re 20 or 90, and reflecting on all the places you have been, all you have done, the mistakes you have made, and everything you have gone through and experienced can leave one wondering. I sometimes think if I got a do-over, I would have done things differently.
The Bible warns us about dwelling on the past. That is not what God wants us to focus on. He wants us to live for Him today. He wants us to seize the day and make the most of it. He wants me to understand that He has given me another day on this earth because He has a purpose for my life, today. The past I cannot change. The future is beyond my control.
I can choose to live for Him today by what I allow myself to think about, controlling the words that come out of my mouth, and loving Him with all my mind, heart, soul, and strength and loving my neighbor as myself. Let go of the past. Live for Him today!
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,” Philippians 3:13 NIV
